Why Champa Language Preservation Matters

champa-language-matters-01

Language carries the stories, wisdom, and worldview of a people.

Language carries the stories, wisdom, and worldview of a people.
When a language disappears, so does:

  • Ancestral knowledge
  • Cultural traditions
  • Oral history and storytelling
  • Songs, poetry, and spiritual teachings
  • Community identity and pride

For many Champa families, the loss of language is deeply personal.
Parents and elders worry that their children may grow up disconnected from their roots.
Youth want to learn but lack access to teachers, materials, or structured programs.

SICHAM is stepping in to bridge this gap with community‑led, culturally grounded language preservation efforts.
